Winter 2022
COVID Precautions Swim Lessons Winter 2022 January – March
It is exciting to be able to offer winter swim lessons during the COVID pandemic. We want our community to know their health and safety is a priority. While in our facility we require:
- All guests ages 5 years and older to wear a mask (face-shield) except when swimming
- All guests to be responsible by remaining respectfully distanced from others while in attendance.
We are continuing to keep many of our COVID practices in place. Here is what we have planned …
- This winter we have two different program options
- Option 1: Twice a week on M/W five weeks (10, 30-minute lessons)
- Option 2: Once a week on Fri for five weeks (5, 45-minute lessons)
- Enroll online (cprdnewberg.org), in-person (1802 Haworth Ave, Newberg), or by phone at 503-537-2909
- Lesson blocks
- Mon/Wed, 9:00 – 11:45 am Mon/Wed,4:30 – 6:30 pm Fri, 12:45 – 2:30 pm and 4:45 – 6:30 pm
- Group and Private Lessons are traditionally scheduled during these blocks
- Private Lessons may also be scheduled an hour before or after the time block depending on pool space and instructor availability
- Mon/Wed, 9:00 – 11:45 am Mon/Wed,4:30 – 6:30 pm Fri, 12:45 – 2:30 pm and 4:45 – 6:30 pm
- Each lesson will (continue to) be a closed group
- Only those attending each specific lesson will be permitted access to the pool
- Special dispensation will be made for families with children in back to back lessons
- Each child will continue to be assigned a chair for personal gear
- This chair may be occupied by a single family member (please remove your shoes at the door)
- Any family member not swimming will be required to wear a mask
- We will be respectfully distanced from others on the deck as not all individuals are vaccinated
- Class size
- Classes have a maximum of 4 students (occasionally 5)
- Deck cones will continue to be used although the children will be spaced closer together
- Check-in process
- Swimmers will enter the pool via the main entrance, carrying their shoes
- Each time slot will be admitted to the pool 5-6 minutes prior to lesson time
- Here attendance will be taken, chair and cone assignments issued, and instructors name introduced
- Take all personal possessions to your assigned chairs to avoid congested cubbies and or locker rooms
- Children are to deck shower and return to their chair and wait for their instructor to walk them to their deck cones
- Your Child’s Lesson
- Your child’s lesson will follow a traditional format with the instructor in the water working with your children hands-on and face-to-face
- While many of our instructors are vaccinated they are not required to but have the option of wearing a face-shield while interacting with your children
- Locker rooms and family dressing rooms
- These areas will be open for use however they are small and quickly become congested; we continue to recommend that all swimmers arrive and depart in their swim attire
- We ask that all facility users practice “respectful” distancing from others at all times
- Exiting the facility
- There is a 15-minute passing time between lessons; take a moment to confer with your child’s instructor but please exit the pool area quickly so that we may admit our next group of swimmers in a timely manner
- For those who choose to depart in swim attire, exit the facility through the doors by the lazy river (thus avoiding the hallway congestion). Please carry your shoes
- For those who are making use of the locker room or family dressing rooms please exit via the lobby
- Do not exit through the lobby in drippy wet suits as the floor becomes extremely hazardous when wet
Deck seating is assigned and limited. Please, only one family member per half hour, per child.
