Children’s Aquatic Center Admission Policy: The safety of your children is important to us! For the Aquatic Wing children ages 10 years and up may enter into the aquatic wing of the facility independent of an adult. Children ages 9 years require an adult to remain in the facility while the child swims (please note spectators who choose to sit on deck must pay a drop in fee). Children ages 8 years and younger OR less than forty-eight inches in height are required to have an adult in the water within arm’s reach at all times. The adult's role is to assist with child's safety. The ratio is 1 adult for 2 children in the water who are under the age of 8.
Children/Youth Fitness Center Admission Policy: For the Sport Courts and Skytrack youth holding a valid high school student ID card are permitted without adult supervision. Youth ages 9-14 years (without high school ID) require visually active adult supervision and children ages 8 years and younger require adults to be within arm’s reach. For those youth wishing to use the weight room or cardio equipment (minimum age 14 years with a valid high school ID card) a fee-based orientation will be required (14 – 17 years).
Youth Weight Room and Cardio Equipment Policy (14 -17 year olds with a valid high school ID Card only): For those youth wishing to use the weight room or cardio equipment, youth must be 14 years old, have a valid high school ID, and have completed the weight room orientation prior to use of the weight room facility. Please see the Front Desk for Weight Room Orientation scheduling.
Dead lift Room
The dead lift room is for patrons age 18 and older only. (14 - 17 year old patrons may NOT use this room for safety reasons)
Water Activity Readiness Test: The purpose of the water activity readiness test is to ensure that individuals meet minimum safety and swimming skills to be able to participate in/on various aquatic attractions. The patron will complete with confidence a feet first entry (jump) into 3.5 feet of water followed by a 20 yard swim (next to the life line), and ending with a complete pull out to deck level. The test must be completed on their “tummies” making good forward progression in a nearly horizontal position (no dog paddle; front crawl with rhythmic side breathing is preferred). For those who are unable to successfully complete the test, they must stay in the lifeguard designated swimming and play areas. Safety is important to us. If you have special circumstances, do not hesitate to contact Aquatic Coordinator Wendy Roberts or Aquatic Specialist Krista Miller at 503-538-4813.
Swim Aide Policy: The aquatic center management recognizes the fun of being able to float or swim independent of adult assistance. Swim aides such as arm floats, life jackets, swim rings, etc. are permitted in the pool at the lifeguard’s discretion. Safety is our biggest concern. Children with flotation devices are required to remain in non-moving shallow water unless they are able to pass the water activity readiness test without flotation. A child who is a non-swimmer, regardless of flotation assistance, is required to have an adult in the water within arm's length at all times.
Aquatic Center Diaper Policy: Diapers are to be worn (in the pool) by all individuals, regardless of age, who are not proficiently toilet trained. It is also the policy of this facility that all children 3 years and younger will be required to wear a swim diaper (in the pool) regardless of their potty-training status. In addition, cover the diaper with either a swim suite or other brief that is tight about the thighs (elastic leg recommended). We want to keep our water healthy and without incident and we have found (generally speaking) that when children are having a lot of fun, they will not always report to their grown-ups the need to visit the toilet. Please check your child's diaper often and change immediately. If needed diapers are available for purchase at the reception desk.
Accidental Fecal/vomit release protocol (AFR): Per OHA & CDC the entire pool must immediately be cleared. *Patrons must remain out of the water until management gives the all clear* Staff will skim out all the debris and raise Chlorine levels to appropriate level to kill all germs. Diarrheal discharge cancels all programming for 24 hours. Aquatic management will verify cancelation of current and future programs. If the AFR occurs within the first 45 minutes of the swim time, the front desk will have courtesy coupons available for those who would like to pick one up on their way out.
