The longest-standing CPRD director ever, Mike McBride served on the board for 36 continuous years, from 1983 through June 2017. Two of the board’s accomplishments Mike is especially proud of during his tenure are the creation of Chehalem Senior Center and Chehalem Golf Course.

Mike was recognized with the SDAO Outstanding Special District Service Award for the Board member category in 2015.

He is a self-employed Farmers Insurance agent, and has operated his business on First Street since 1982.

Mike has been an integral part of the community and played a part in the formation of CPRD. He made the Newberg area his home, is a graduate of Newberg High School, and a former football player for the Newberg Tigers.

Mike has served on various committees throughout the community, served on Newberg City Council, and sponsored many teams in the Newberg youth leagues. A current and longtime Kiwanian in Newberg, he has been voted Kiwanian of the Year twice.

On June 22, 2017, the Board of Directors signed a resolution naming Mike an honorary Board member for life* and recognizing him as a friend and teammate to CPRD. 

* Honorary Board members are entitled to attend meetings and participate in Board discussions, but are not eligible to vote.
