Jim has been a resident of the Newberg/Dundee area since 1980. Prior to his retirement in 2019, Jim worked as a supervisor for the Chehalem Park and Recreation District. Throughout his career, Jim wore many hats. After originally managing the Chehalem Aquatic Center, he then became supervisor of the Parks Department, recently completing his career as a project manager for the district. Jim was responsible for the development and upgrades to most of the districts’ parks, this includes the construction of the skate park and BMX track, as well as various facility projects including the Chehalem Cultural Center and the Chehalem Aquatic Center. Jim earned an associate's degree in Leisure Studies from Santa Monica Junior College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Administration from Chico State University. He is also a graduate of the National Recreation and Parks Maintenance Management School. Jim is an avid bike rider and hiker. He is best known in the Newberg area for starting and coaching the boys and girls water polo program and has won 39 state championships for Newberg High School. Jim and his wife Melody have two sons, Taylor and Spencer.
