2024 Flag Football Picture Schedule
Please join the Newberg Tiger Youth Football program for Kindergarten - 2nd and 3rd - 4th grade flag football!
Registration for the 2024 season will open May 1, 2024, and closes August 19, 2024. Please select from the tabs above to register.
Teams will play home games on the NHS turf field on Saturday mornings.
Cost:
- Cost for the 6-week season is $110 (in-district), $120 (out-of-district)
Team Formation:
- Teams will consist of approximately 10 players and games will be 5 vs 5.
- A coach's meeting will take place on Sept. 4 at 6pm at the CPRD District office (125 S Elliot). Coach's will notify parents of their team placement via email. If you do not receive an email by end of day on September 6, please contact Nicole Lewelling at nlewelling@cprdnewberg.org.
Equipment:
- Newberg Youth Football will provide each player a team jersey and a flag belt/flags. Please provide cleats (football/soccer) as games will be played on NHS artificial turf. Newberg Youth Football will provide Pee Wee (K-2) and Junior size (3rd-4th) footballs for practice/games. Players may wear gloves, elbow pads and knee pads (optional). Players' jerseys must be tucked into pants/shorts if they hang below the belt line.
Scheduling:
- Teams may begin practicing the week of September 9. Teams practice two days a week for an hour. Practice dates, times and location are all dependent on the coach. Games will take place every Saturday for 6 weeks starting September 21 against Newberg and other local teams.
Games:
- Games are 40 minutes long (running time) with two 20-minute halves and a 5-minute half time. No score is kept and there are no standings. There will be equal play time for each child. The head coach of each team is responsible for making sure all rules are followed. Games will be across the football field; 50 yards long by 20 yards wide WITHOUT end zones. Fields will be marked by colored cones. Each team has 4 downs to get a 1st down. Teams may substitute freely. Flags must be worn on the OUTSIDE of the jersey and on each side of the body and the rear at all times. No intentional contact is allowed at any time (i.e., blocking, shielding, pushing, etc.). After a player's flag is pulled, the player that pulled the flag must stop where they are and raise the flag in the air.
