Lifeguard Training 
This course focuses on the job of a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment with an emphasis in victim recognition, surveillance and equipment based rescues.  Upon completion the successful candidate will hold nationally recognized American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR-PR and AED certifications (good for two years).  Course prerequisites will be tested the first day.

Minimum enrollment = 6

 

 

Spring Lifeguard Class

Junior Lifeguard Class
Campers will gain the knowledge of how to keep people safe in and around the water, how to recognize people in trouble and how to safely help. Learn about basic water safety, drowning prevention, along with introduction to first aid, CPR and AED. Campers will also have some hands on experience working with CPRD's lifeguard team. Campers will also improve their strokes and learn about treading water lifeguard style. Upon completion campers will be encouraged to become part of our team of volunteer junior lifeguards.

Jr. Water Safety Instructor (Teaching swim lessons)
The purpose of this course is to train instructor candidates to teach Infant, Preschool, and School Age Learn-to-Swim programs, Basic Water Rescue, and  Longfellow's Whale Tales courses. Upon completion of this course the successful candidate will hold a nationally recognized America Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.

Note:  Students should possess a strong understanding of the 6 different strokes. A pre-test will take place at the beginning of the course. Requires 100% attendance. Minimum enrollment = 6.

 

American Red Cross Babysitter Training

American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED r.21 program is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person when minutes matter, and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. This program offers a  blended learning (online learning with instructor-led skill session) format, in addition to optional skill boosts to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.
