Newberg Cultural District announces opening for Executive Board of the District

Newberg Cultural District Board, a joint effort of the City of Newberg, Chehalem Park and Recreation District, Newberg Public Library and the Chehalem Cultural Center, has an opening on the board for a resident of the Cultural District neighborhood. This individual represents the neighborhood resident perspective on the Board. The Board is charged with making decisions on the outside areas of the District (bounded by School, Hancock, Blaine and Sherman streets) and works with the various agencies involved in the area.

The resident representative is selected at the Newberg Cultural District Board meeting on October 2, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Chehalem Cultural Center.  The qualified applicant must live within the Cultural District (bound by Meridian, Main, Hancock Streets and the railroad tracks).  It is a two-year term.  The board meets about 6 - 7 times a year and usually meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday (except for changes for holidays), but is open to changing the meeting time/date.

If interested in serving as the neighborhood representative, contact Robert Soppe, current neighborhood representative at rs@compprobsolv.com, or board secretary, Leah Griffith at 503-537-1256 or leah.griffith@newbergoregon.gov. Interested individuals are also invited to attend the next district board meeting on Tuesday, September 11th, at 5:30 p.m. at Chehalem Cultural Center.
